A day in the life…

Thanks for visiting!

“Forget about the rules. Forget about being published. Write for yourself and celebrate writing”…………………………Melinda Hayes

The above picture is from a trail where I walk regularly, in my home town of Victoria, BC, Canada.  It’s a beautiful trail which runs all the way around two lakes here – Elk Lake and Beaver Lake. It’s a 10k walk (or run, or cyle, or horseback ride), which I don’t think I’ve ever actually completed in one round. But I love to  walk here, through the woods, with the lake almost always off to my right.

I also realised I love to take pictures of my walks and hikes, which I do fairly regularly either alone or with my family.  And of course, I love to write.  But writing, for me, has been quite difficult, in that I’ve often felt I had nothing really to say, and most probably no one wanted to listen anyhow.

BUT….on January 1st, I gave myself a writing challenge on my facebook page. I promised to write, at least a little bit, every single day.  And we’re coming to the end of January now, and I’ve realised how much I’ve enjoyed writing. I’ve written about all sorts of things. Some serious, some funny, some thought provoking, some poetry, and sometimes even on my soap box.

I know a few on my facebook page have read regularly and commented. I’m not too sure how many of friends have kept up. But I’ve realised that now, for me, is the time to write. No more excuses. No more writing and deleting my own words, no more worries about what other people think of me, or of my writing.

So,  I’m here, writing for ME.  Read if you like, bypass if you like, I promise I won’t be offended.  But if you do decide to stay, I hope you enjoy the ride as much as I’m planning to!
